WHY COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOL?
Communities In Schools (CIS) believes that caring, one-on-one relationships between adults and young people make the crucial difference. Programs don’t change kids – relationships do. CIS creates comprehensive, locally controlled and owned support systems around schools. In partnership with the local system, CIS identifies the most critical needs of students and families – needs that are preventing children from succeeding in school, and in life.
CIS fuels personal potential, so every student can take charge of their story and define their success for life.
WE’RE BUILDING A POWERFUL CHANGE MOVEMENT.
At Communities In Schools® (CIS™), we believe that every student has what they need to realize their full potential in school and beyond.
We walk by their side, in their communities, to challenge the systems and barriers that stand between them and their success in life.
OUR VALUES
#AllInForKids
Bring communities of support to our students, in schools and beyond
Our unique model centers on having a dedicated, full-time social service professional on every campus we serve. We build relationships with businesses, volunteers, and partners to bring community resources to the school campus. These additional supports allow us to ensure that students get the exact services they need.
🎉 STAAR Kickoff Pep Rally! 🎉
Our STAAR Kickoff Pep Rally was all about getting students hyped, motivated, and ready to take on the STAAR and EOC exams! 🎓✨ This was a time for students to unwind, relax, and have fun before getting to work on mastering the STAAR.
Students from both the High School and Middle School enjoyed exciting performances by our cheerleaders, dance team (The Sapphires), and our band, bringing high energy and school spirit to the event! 💃🎺📣
A special thank you to Mrs. Saldana for organizing fun games and activities that kept everyone engaged. Our principals, assistant principals, counselors, and teachers also shared words of encouragement, reminding students that they are prepared and capable of success. 💙
We’re proud of our students and excited to see them shine—you’ve got this! 🌟✏️

🎊March CIS Highlights:
This month, Ms. Mojica continued hosting lunch groups and launched an SEL activity focused on "Coping Skills." Students learned the definition and participated in an art worksheet. Additionally, the site coordinator provided examples that can help the student relax before taking an exam and how to take a small break after a studying session. During CIS training, Site Coordinator got recognized for completing 5 years of service. We also want to congratulate Luis Sosa and family for achieving a great goal and becoming a candidate for Stillman MS. Stay tuned for more! Email: cis-jmojica@bisd.us

Today’s parent meeting at VMA was a great success!
We were joined by Mrs. Cantu from Face Department and our CIS Site Coordinator, who introduced herself and shared valuable information about the services CIS provides to support our students. We were also grateful to welcome our school principal, Ms. Martinez, who reviewed important school policies, and Ms. Laura Savedra from Texas AgriLife, who provided an informative nutrition class for parents. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event meaningful for our families!
