WHY COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOL?
Communities In Schools (CIS) believes that caring, one-on-one relationships between adults and young people make the crucial difference. Programs don’t change kids – relationships do. CIS creates comprehensive, locally controlled and owned support systems around schools. In partnership with the local system, CIS identifies the most critical needs of students and families – needs that are preventing children from succeeding in school, and in life.
CIS fuels personal potential, so every student can take charge of their story and define their success for life.

Our unique model centers on having a dedicated, full-time social service professional on every campus we serve. We build relationships with businesses, volunteers, and partners to bring community resources to the school campus. These additional supports allow us to ensure that students get the exact services they need.

🦃 Give Thanks by Giving Back! 🍂
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we are gearing up for a Thanksgiving food drive and would deeply appreciate your support.
Communities In Schools of Cameron County and Veterans Memorial Academy with the support of RGV Food Bank are launching the Turkey Donations drive to support families in need this holiday season!
Everything collected will go directly toward purchasing turkeys and assembling full holiday meals for students and their families in need. We are aiming to put together 50 to 100 meal baskets this season.
Our distribution event will take place on November 19 here at VMA. However, to make this event a success, we need your help!
