Communities In Schools (CIS) believes that caring, one-on-one relationships between adults and young people make the crucial difference. Programs don’t change kids – relationships do. CIS creates comprehensive, locally controlled and owned support systems around schools. In partnership with the local system, CIS identifies the most critical needs of students and families – needs that are preventing children from succeeding in school, and in life.

We build relationships with businesses, volunteers, and partners to bring community resources to the school campus. These additional supports allow us to ensure that students get the exact services they need.

Our CIS-LFHS students attended a presentation on domestic and teen violence last week. Mr. Gabriel Garcia, from the Cameron County District Attorney`s office, presented to our students on this important topic. Students were engaged and asked questions. Thank you to the LFCISD Athletic Department for their collaboration and use of the high school gym. #beingpresentmatters
